16-year-old sentenced to five years in prison for terrorist activities 

A 16-year-old boy from Syria has been sentenced to five years in prison for preparing a terrorist attack and being involved in a terrorist group. 

The boy had prepared a nicotine poison device and began preparing for an attack that would take place on May 17th, Norway's national day. 

The boy has not been named for legal reasons. 

“After the presentation of evidence, the court has no doubt that X, despite his young age, had made a conscious decision to carry out a terrorist act, even though his plans failed to materialize into something more concrete,” District Judge Ingvild Boe Hornbug said in her verdict. 

In addition to preparing a terror attack, the boy was also found to have participated in terrorist organization Isis by sharing propaganda online, being an active member of hate groups and transferring money to a propaganda site. 

Norway to receive more vaccines than expected this summer 

Norway can expect to receive more vaccine doses this summer than initially anticipated. 

The reason for this is a redistribution of vaccines in the EU’s system, according to vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström.

“Much of the reason for this is that several European countries do not need more doses. This is either because of the progress they have made in their vaccination program or because the population is sceptical of the vaccine and does not want to take it,” Bergström told broadcaster TV2. 

The number of extra doses Norway will receive has not yet been confirmed, but TV2 has reported it will be around 600,000 extra jabs. 

Police warn of scam in East Norway

Eastern Police District have warned the public about the scam in East Norway where scammers call pretending to be the police in Sandefjord. 

The callers ask the person answering the phone to provide sensitive information and bank information. 

“The police do not ask for bank information over the phone. We recommend rejecting these calls,” the police said on Twitter. 

Police have said that the number scammers are using is incredibly similar to the police station in Sandjeford’s number. 

225 new Covid cases in Norway 

On Tuesday, 225 new Covid-19 infections were registered in Norway. 

This is 44 coronavirus cases more than the seven day average of 181. 

The R-number or reproduction rate in Norway is currently 0.7. This means that every ten people that are infected will, on average, only infect another seven people, indicating that the infection level is declining.
