Violent storms in south west France leave thousands without power
Thousands of homes in south western France were left without electricity on Friday morning after violent thunderstorms battered the region during the night.
The thunderstorms left three injured and caused significant material damage.

In case of electrical damage, companies recommend "never touching fallen cables", "alerting any anomalies (cables that are too close to the ground, collapsing electricity posts, etc.) to Enedis (the company responsible for the management of France's electricity network).
Enedis reminded people in the affected area to "never touch an object that is in contact with an electrical line", and "observe the areas marked as danger zones".

Storms will persist over a large part of the country, but on Friday morning Météo France downgraded the warning from "orange" (level three out of four) to "yellow" for most of the country.
In addition the Rhône département remains on orange heatwave alert.
