The general public - along with members of risk groups - can register to be vaccinated in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

Registration first opened up to the general public on January 18th

Despite registration being open, this does not guarantee priority access to the vaccine.

The government does not outline a timeline according to which you will get vaccinated, although as reported by The Local Austria in mid-April, more and more appointments are being released.

People will be able to register their interest on the platform. In some cases they can book an appointment now, for instance if they are a member of a priority group, or in other cases they will be contacted at a later date for an appointment.

If you are a member of a risk group, you will need to bring along a medical certificate to confirm your medical condition.

Vienna authorities said “the time of the reservation has no influence on the sequence during vaccination", Austria's Der Standard reports.

As yet, the only proviso is age. The vaccine can be administered from the age of 16 for the BioNtech / Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and from the age of 18 for the AstraZeneca vaccine in Vienna.

Registration is open in Vienna and can be accessed at the following link

For those who are not particularly internet savvy or are having issues registering, this can also be done by phone by calling 1450.

In order to vaccinate groups or families, multiple vaccinations can be handled under the one registration.

Up to four people can be registered on the one email address or phone number - however this must be done over the phone
