Icy roads
Heavy snowfall overnight followed by an increase in temperatures this morning has resulted in icy and slippery roads. A number of accidents have already occurred during the morning and police have warned motorists to be cautious.
Warmer weather on the way
Although conditions this morning are treacherous, a break in the cold is now arriving, according to the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI).
The “polar cold” of recent weeks will be gradually replaced by milder air from the Atlantic, DMI tweeted this morning.
That change in weather will bring mist and clouds initially followed by snow and sleet.

Covid-19 compensation packages vulnerable to fraud
Billions of state kroner has been spent over the last 11 months supporting businesses which have been forced to close as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Inspection of payouts totalling 28 billion kroner will be conducted in an effort to protect against fraudulent claims of the money.
But a delay in starting the controls increases the risk of failing to uncover false claims, according to a report by DR Nyheder.
The businesses ministry will begin reviewing payouts in May due to delays related to IT systems and the initial rush to ensure businesses received urgently needed funds.
Man to face terror trial after buying gun
A man arrested last year after buying a firearm and ammunition will stand trial on charges of preparing to carry out a "terrorist attack", prosecutors have said.
The 24-year-old, who is from Copenhagen, was arrested in April immediately after making the purchases and then placed in detention, new wire AFP reports.
