Austria extends flight ban from Britain and South Africa, bans Brazil flights
Austria has introduced a ban on flights from Brazil, while extending the existing ban on flights from Great Britain and South Africa.

Austria has introduced a landing ban for passenger planes from Brazil until February 7th.
A landing ban on flights from Britain and South Africa was also extended until February 7th amid ongoing concern surrounding mutations of coronavirus.
The ban was announced on Saturday by the Austrian foreign ministry.
The ban, which was imposed in the lead up to Christmas on December 22nd, was originally set to expire on January 10th.
However, on Friday, Health Minister Rudolf Anschober announced it would be extended by two weeks until January 24th, before being extended again now to February 7th - the final day of Austria's current coronavirus lockdown.
There are some limited exceptions.
According to the Austrian government “excluded from this are, for example, cargo flights, emergency flights, ambulance / rescue flights, flights for the transport of seasonal workers for agriculture and forestry as well as nursing and health personnel”.
Can Austrian residents and citizens enter?
While flights have been stopped between Austria and the three countries in question, arrivals from Brazil, South Africa and the United Kingdom are not banned - although they will have to find another way to get to Austria, for instance by travelling through a neighbouring country.
Upon arriving in Austria, anyone from the UK or South Africa - or indeed almost all other countries in the world bar a short list of around ten exceptions - will need to complete a mandatory ten-day quarantine.
While the quarantine itself was set to expire on January 10th, a government representative told The Local Austria it was in place “until further notice”.
