Coronavirus: 80 percent of Austrians ‘expect another lockdown’
Austrians have little faith in the government’s management of the pandemic, with a large majority expecting the country to go into another lockdown.
The vast majority of Austrians have questioned the country’s response to the pandemic, a new study has found.
All up, 80 percent of respondents said they expected the country to again enter lockdown, Kurier reports.
Austria went into a strict lockdown from November 17th until December 7th, with measures slightly relaxed in the lead up to Christmas.
The country was also split as to whether the lockdown measures were effective.

44 percent said they were moderately satisfied with the measures, while 29 percent said they were working either poorly or very poorly.
In total, 26 percent said the measures were working well.
The study also highlighted a major gap in between perceptions of the government’s conduct during the first and second waves.
During the spring onset of the virus, 78 percent of Austrians believed that the government was handling the pandemic better than in other EU countries.
During the second wave, only 11 percent felt that Austria was managing the pandemic better than elsewhere in the EU.
