Train connections between Switzerland and France set to increase in December
After suspending some services between the two countries in September due to Swiss quarantine requirements on arrivals from Paris, the trains will resume in time for Christmas.
TGV Lyria, which is jointly operated by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF), cut a third of its high-speed rail links between Switzerland and France at the end of September
On November 4th, the company further reduced its daily services from eight to two between Geneva and Paris, and to one between Zurich and the French capital.
As Paris and other regions in mainland France are no longer subject to a 10-day quarantine, the TGV announced a “gradual resumption” of more frequent rail traffic between the two countries.

Starting on Wednesday December 2nd, the Lausanne-Paris line via Vallorbe will be operating again with a daily round trip.
And from Sunday December 13th, the service will be expanded to 13 daily round trips between Switzerland and Paris.
Due to the ongoing lockdown in France anyone travelling to the country from Switzerland will have to continue to justify their trips until December 15th at the earliest.

Swiss railways will change their timetable on December 13th.
The SBB traditionally introduces its new schedule on the second Monday in December.
According to SBB, the new schedule for 2021 “will be marked by the completion of the New Rail Link through the Alps (NRLA) after 28 years of construction."
"This level-track rail route through the Alps will enable new service offers in freight and passenger services, both nationally and internationally”.
The 2021 timetable will also provide faster and more frequent connections to Milan and Munich, “as well as a number of improvements for passenger services across the whole of Switzerland”.
