The French national rail company on Tuesday launched a special Christmas offer with all tickets fully reimbursed until the very last minute in a bid to make booking trips for the holidays easier under the uncertain health conditions.

Starting on October 6th, all train tickets purchased for the period between December 13th and January 4th can be fully reimbursed until the very last minute.

The offer includes all tickets for the high speed TGV INOUI trains, low-cost Ouigo trains and Intercité regional trains, with the low-cost Ouigo offer running all the way until July 2nd 2021.

Train tickets for travel now are also fully refundable until the last minute, but that offer expires on Novermber 1st.

SNCF has suffered heavy economic losses since Covid-19 hit France with full force in March, forcing the government to impose a strict nationwide lockdown and restrict travel both outside and within the country.

With the travel situation still uncertain because of the precarious health situation caused by the Covid-19 virus, the offer is an attempt from the SNCF to entice as many as possible to book a trip for Christmas, knowing that they will not have to pay if they have to cancel last minute.

SNCF also saw lower-than usual bookings last Christmas because of the ongoing transportation strike that hit the country through December and January.

Tickets for TGV INOUI and Intercité services can be cancelled until the set departure time on the application Oui.Sncf, or within 60 days through the company's customer service.

Ouigo tickets can be cancelled until 1 hour and 30 minutes before departure on this form.
