Weather: Tropical storm to hit southern Germany
Strong showers are expected in the south of Germany this weekend, with calm and sunny skies forecast in the rest of the country.
At the start of the weekend, a turbulent tropical storm will strike parts of the Bundesrepublik, especially Bavaria and other areas of southern Germany, announced the German Weather Service (DWD) on Friday.
By early Saturday morning, the south is slated to receive heavy showers, warned DWD. Some may turn into thunderstorms with heavy gusts and hail, with the downpour to continue throughout the day.
However, "Yoann" - the name Germans have given to the current weather front - is expected to calm down by Saturday evening.
If you're eager to get outdoors this weekend, you're in luck. By Sunday and Monday, "Yoann" will bring mostly sunny and dry weather.
Temperatures of 22C to 27C are expected throughout the Bundesrepublik, according to DWD.
Baltic and Northern Sea beachgoers might still want to bring along a jacket: in the north, it will remain significantly cooler with a maximum of 19C.
Yet next week DWD forecasted it will be warm and dry all over Germany, with maximum temperatures of up to 28C.
