The coronavirus has hit the hotel industry particularly hard, with tourism bans and cancellations leaving most hotels empty.

But in the spirit of making lemonade out of lemons, this Swiss hotel has decided to take advantage of one thing it does have right now - empty rooms - in order to offer a luxury coronavirus quarantine package.

The Le Bijou Hotel in Zurich on Tuesday launched its Covid-19 Package, which includes all the perks you’d expect of a top-class hotel - as well as specialised coronavirus features including on-call doctors, nurses and in-room coronavirus testing.

Unfortunately for value hunters, while it might be the right time to get a fancy room on the cheap in other hotels, this is not the case at Le Bijou - as all of the additional features are not offered on an ‘all-inclusive’ basis.

So how much will each ‘a la carte’ feature set you back?

A coronavirus test is available for CHF500, while you can be checked on by a nurse twice a day for CHF1,800.

Want around the clock care? It’ll set you back a cool CHF4,800 per day - a high price to pay for peace of mind.

Insider reports that a 14-day stay - the recommended quarantine period - will cost you just under 80,000 Swiss francs

The hotel promises that all rooms are disinfected after a guest checks out - which is presumably standard - while social distancing restrictions are avoided by ensuring that the rooms have private gyms and saunas.
