The collapse of UK regional airline Flybe has seen the loss of dozens of routes between France and the UK - many to smaller airports not well served by other airlines.

Flybe declared financial collapse on Thursday, March 5th, saying all its scheduled flights would stay on the ground.

“All flights have been grounded and the UK business has ceased trading with immediate effect,” the British company stated on its website.

Anyone scheduled to fly with Flybe was urged “not [to] travel to the airport” unless they had “arranged an alternative flight with another airline.”

Passengers who had booked flights on the airline were sent a message saying: "It is with deep regret that we have to let you know that your Flybe flight including those operated by Stobart Air has been cancelled. Please do not to travel to the airport."

Coronavirus became last financial straw

A slump in the number of passengers following the coronavirus outbreak proved the fatal financial hit for the low-cost company, which had long been struggling financially, which  received a financial help package from the UK government in January to save it from a near bankruptcy.

There was confusion for some passengers over routes shared by Flybe and Air France - Air France has so far not confirmed whether its flights booked through or as part of a package with Flybe will continue to run.

Looks like you’ve missed the flight from Caen to London Southend :(

Really gutted to lose the Limoges to Southampton route. Flybe cut it down from all year round to just a few months in the Summer but it was so useful. I hope another airline picks it up.
