Swiss public warned as supermarket chain Migros recalls contaminated cheese
Switzerland’s’s largest supermarket chain, Migros, has withdrawn its “Gorgonzola e Mascarpone” cheese mix from sale because it was found to be contaminated and unsafe for consumption.
The cheese was removed from the shelves of Migros stores across the country, as well as from its online outlet, LeShop.ch
The Federal Office of Food Security (OSAV) said on October 9th that potentially harmful listeria bacteria was discovered in this product, putting the health of pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and anyone with a weakened immune system at risk.
Although most frequent symptoms of the listeria infection are benign, some people “could develop serious complications,” OSAV warned.
According to Migros, the contaminated cheese is no longer sold, but some households may still have it. In that case, it should not be eaten but tossed away or returned.

To be consumed until: 21.10.19
