Hello! My name is Rebeca. I am a particle physicist from Spain and I moved to Sweden last year. I teach physics at Uppsala University (@uppsalauniversity), and I am funded by the swedish research council. After 10 years living and working at CERN (@CERN) in Switzerland, working on the CMS experiment (@cmsexperiment), I am now adapting to a new country -Sweden-; and also to a new experiment: ATLAS (@atlasexperiment). I live in Stockholm with my husband Elias (@ef_con), who is a swedish physicist that works in the private sector. I love Sweden and I am looking forward to share with you how I see it! #MySweden #TheLocalSweden
One of my favorite things about living in Stockholm is the library system! You get your card (super easily) and you are good to go in any of the many public libraries in the city. The one closest to our apartment is the #kulturbiblioteket under the fountain in Sergels Torg, it has a lot of music and comics/graphic novels. Today we came to return books we took from the international library (btw: SAVE THE INTERNATIONAL LIBRARY!!) and couldn’t help but leave with a few books… do you use the library? Which one is your favorite? #MySweden #TheLocalSweden #thelocalswedenbookclub
There are also not so many people living in the area, so the supermarket options are worse than in properly residential neighborhoods. I also have a car (which I don't use for commuting, only for trips) and keeping it in a parking lot is quite problematic.
And we are back in #Stockholm, just a little late to see #stockholmpride2019 but on time to see the people coming back. Stockholm is a diverse city and it showed, everybody was out, with many kids waving flags ?️? The weather was great too! Did you attend? Tell me how it was!! #MySweden #TheLocalSweden
Close to the Sofia church in Södermalm there are a few preserved old houses along Mäster Pers Gränd and Bergsprängargränd. They are beautiful and this is one of my favorite spots in the city. If you have read the Stockholm series by Per Anders Fogelström, a lot happens in Vitabergsparken where they were living so it does give you a sense of that. #MySweden #TheLocalSweden
