Even back home meeting the in-laws for the first time is scary, but as a foreigner in France it's doubly stressful. So here's ten tips from French blogger Geraldine Lepère to help you survive and even thrive with your new family.

Meeting your French in-laws is a big step in the relationship with your partner, but it doesn’t have to be a traumatic one.

You might be scared because you don’t speak French very well and have heard tales of ferocious French in-laws eating snails and arguing loudly about politics. This may be a bit of an exaggeration.

Don’t freak out. Your in-laws are probably just as nervous as you are and will be delighted to meet you at last.
