A relic or heirloom, or out of date and old, 'reliquia' can be used in Spanish in the same way the English word can.

Let's check out some examples:            

  • Era una reliquia de una época diferente.

        It was a relic from a different era.

 

  • Mi madre me dejó una reliquia familiar cuando se murió.

      My mum left me a family heirloom when she died.

 

It can be used in a negative way to talk about something or someone being really old or outdated.

 

  • Tu radio es una reliquia!

        Your radio is so old!

 

  • Tienes que deshacerte de tu coche, es una verdadera reliquia.

        You have to get rid of your car. It's an old relic!
