The renovations have cost 1.2 billion kronor, and it was the first time the museum has undergone total renovations since it first opened its doors in 1866.

From Saturday, it will start welcoming visitors again, who can see a collection that has doubled in size since it was last open.

The objects on display include paintings and sculptures created across Europe.

Admission to the National Museum will be free.
