Ample snow leads to record year for Sweden's ski slopes
Sweden sold more ski passes during the previous winter season than ever before, raising 1.7 billion kronor ($189 million).
Ample snowfall allowed the season to start early, and by the end of November around 10 resorts had started operating. Conditions were good from Blekinge through to Norbotten, and a late spring combined with a good Christmas period to help the cause further.
"It has been great in recent years, but we've not seen this kind of increase in a long time," Titti Rodling, CEO of industry organization SLAO told news agency TT.

The number of ski days for the 50 most visited facilities in the country increased by 10 percent, and the total take of 1.7 billion kronor for the season was an increase of 16 percent compared to the winter before.
"It has been a decade in any case since there was such a big increase. This is the highest sales figure we have ever recorded," Rodling explained.
Facilities also invested 275 million kronor in their lifts and slopes during the period, with 340 million kronor further investments planned for next season.
Prices for lift passes are increasing with every season, but that is not the main reason for the strong sales:
"There has been a price adjustment in recent years of around 2.8-3 percent in total. That has a small effect. Above all there has been an increase in volume (of people) and interest."
