Five of the best places to watch the 2018 World Cup in Sweden
The 2018 World Cup kicks off on June 14th, and with Sweden back at the tournament for the first time since 2006, much of the country will stop and take it in. Here are the best places to soak up the atmosphere and watch the games in the Nordic nation.

Stockholm
If you want to watch Sweden’s games in as close to a real World Cup atmosphere as is possible without going to Russia, then the Tele2 Arena has you covered. Home of rival clubs Hammarby and Djurgården, the arena is putting up what it claims is the biggest screen in Europe for all of Sweden’s World Cup matches, and there were also be music and other excitement. It’ll cost you though: tickets can be bought here.

Gothenburg
Anything Stockholm can do, Gothenburg can do too. The city's historic Nya Ullevia stadium – where no less than Pele made his World Cup debut for Brazil in 1958 – will also be showing all of Sweden's matches on a giant screen. In contrast to Stockholm, tickets are free, but that means it’s a particularly good idea to get there with plenty of time before kick-off. More information can be found here.

Malmö
Southern city Malmö's biggest World Cup event will be held at Folkets Park, where all of the Sweden fixtures, matches on the same day as Sweden's, and games from the semifinals onward will be shown on a big screen. A smaller screen will show the rest of the games, starting with the opening fixture on Thursday. Best of all, it's free. More info here.

Umeå
Northern Sweden hasn't been left out from the World Cup festivities. Rådhustorget in Umeå will have a 31-day long football party this summer, showing all of the games on a big screen and also providing live music, quizzes and more. The festival itself is free, but if you want to book a table a small fee is charged. More information is available here.
The best of the rest
The remaining Swedish cities won't have anything on the same scale as the big four above, but there are still plenty of great opportunities to enjoy the tournament. In Norrköping, Vasaparken will be showing Sweden's group games, while the Royalbiograf cinema in Eskilstuna is also showing a selection of all games. In Växjö, Linnéparken has you covered for the Sweden fixtures, and Helsingborg will similarly be showing them on a big screen at Norra Hamnen.
