Teen sucked into pool filter system suffers horrific injuries
A fourteen-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being sucked into the filter system of a public pool in Valencia.
The boy was swimming in the public pool in Carpesa, a small town in eastern Spain, on Friday evening when he became caught up in the swimming pool filter mesh which cut open his stomach.
His intenstines were then damaged by the powerful suction of the filter system, according to Europa Press and the emergency services (CICU).
He was immediately pulled from the pool and transferred by ambulance to Valencia’s La Fe hospital were he underwent a four-hour emergency surgery.
On Sunday evening the teenager was still being cared for in the intensive care unit of the hospital where authorities said his condition was “critical”.
