Easter weather forecast: what to expect
Temperatures are expected to creep above zero in the whole of Sweden – south to north – for the first time this year this week... but what about Easter?
Spring has well and truly arrived in southern Sweden, but in some of the northern parts of the country people are still waiting for the snow to melt. That may change this week, forecasters say.
"It looks like it's going to be the first time this year that the whole country gets temperatures above freezing. But that also means a risk of slippery roads when the snow melts," meteorologist Lasse Rydqvist of weather agency Foreca told Göteborgs-Posten.
Johan Groth of weather agency Storm mostly agrees with his forecast.
"We could get 10, 15 degrees in Götaland, Svealand and southern Norrland. Almost all of Norrland will have temperatures above zero. Daytime temperatures below zero will only really affect the far north of the Lapland mountains," he told the Aftonbladet tabloid.
Enjoy it while you can. Meteorologists predict a rainy Easter, unless you are going skiing for the holidays.
"There's hope for the mountains at Easter. But it looks like the rest of the country will get typical April weather with sunny mornings and evenings but a lot of clouds and rain during the day," said Groth.
