Finding a job can be tricky in Sweden, but here are the top professions in 2017.

Teachers and IT developers are among the professions in high demand, according to Sweden's national job agency Arbetsförmedlingen's new prognosis. But there is a shortage of educated workers, it says.

“It has become increasingly difficult to find people with secondary and higher education,” explained Arbetsförmedlingen analyst Annelie Almérus.

Sweden also needs more people for jobs in the hotel and restaurant and building industries. “That's because more and more eat out and there's more construction work going on in the country,” said Almérus.

These are some of the sectors where Sweden needs people:

Degree-level jobs: Pre-school teachers, nurses, special education teachers, civil engineers, social workers, doctors, software and IT analysts and developers, psychologists.

Other jobs: Chefs, plumbers, electricians, metal workers, nursing assistants and nursing home workers, woodworkers and other construction staff, mechanics, truck drivers, medical secretaries.

Sectors where there's a surplus of workers: journalists and photographers, musicians, singers, composers, graphic designers, financial analysts, investment advisers, bank clerks, shop workers, janitors, office assistants, receptionists, secretaries and switchboard operators.
