Two schools in Jutland were evacuated on Monday after an English-speaking woman phoned in bomb threats, police said.

The Rolf Krake School in Holsterbro and the Rønde School in Djursland both received near-identical bomb threats by telephone at around 12pm.

“The phone rang and as soon as an employee answered, someone said: ‘There is a bomb at your school and it will explode,” Jeannette Bylov, a spokeswoman for Mid- and Western Jutland Police, told broadcaster DR.

“It happened in English. All possibilities are open, but it is obvious that when it happens at the same time and with the same choice of words, there is the possibility that it is the same [person],” she added.

Both schools were evacuated and bomb-sniffing dogs and explosive disposal agents from the military searched the buildings.

“When we evacuate and send military disposal agents, it is of course because we take it seriously,” Janni Lundager, a spokeswoman for East Jutland Police, told DR.
