If you’re flying abroad this festive season and want to take your Christmas tree with you - don’t despair - Austrian airline Fly Niki and German carrier Air Berlin will let you bring your spruce for free on all of their international flights.

The tree can be up to two metres high and must be booked on your flight 48 hours before it leaves (via the airline group’s service centre). Fly Niki said that 200 passengers took advantage of the offer last Christmas, and they believe more people will want to fly with a tree this year. The majority of travellers who took a tree with them were travelling to Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

However, anyone who hates Christmas should avoid flying with Niki. Throughout December guests will be greeted with the sounds of festive music as they board the aircraft, and after 6pm flight attendants will serve free glasses of punch or Glühwein. On December 6th all passengers will be treated to a chocolate St. Nicholas.
