French dating site reveals secret of why women cheat
Men take note. A survey by France’s Gleeden, dubbed the number one dating site for married an unfaithful people, has given an insight into the reason why women might feel an urge to stray.
A man’s failure to pull his weight at home is often the spark that lights the fuse of female infidelity.
A survey of over 10,000 signed up female members to the extra-marital dating website revealed that 73 percent of them are pushed towards infidelity because their partner is a slacker when it comes to house work.
Gleeden, which began in France but has since gone global, wanted to find out the chief reason why women cheat on their partners and the overwhelming motive was: “He didn’t play enough of a role in daily household chores," reports French website LeBonbon.
So not emptying the washing machine, skipping the washing up, failure to get the hoover out and refusing to clean the toilet causes friction and eventually pushes wives and girlfriends into the arms of another lover, it seems.
Among the 10,000 Gleeden members who responded to the question some 86 percent said they were deeply frustrated by their man’s tendency to skip housework and 84 percent admitted to it having caused arguments.
Women responded that the overburden of housework left them looking for satisfaction, attention and a desire to feel feminine, that the vacuum cleaner and rubber gloves could not give them.
Perhaps Gleeden's conclusions are no surprise given that a survey last year by French statistics agency INSEE revealed that women in France still carry out two thirds of domestic chores, even though men were pulling their weight more than in the past.
Perhaps a similar survey needs to be carried of Gleeden’s male members given that one in two Frenchmen in couples admits to cheating on their partner, according to a 2014 Ifop poll.
And the reason for the rise in cheating among couples?
"People have more partners these days, women are much more in the working environment so they come into contact with other men, there's technology and social media, meaning people can communicate in private. There's basically much more temptation around now," Ifop researcher François Kraus told The Local at the time.
So men who value their relationships need to either get their hands dirty, or pay to get a cleaner in.
