Stockholmers woke up to an unusually snow-covered city on Wednesday morning.

Below is a picture of a street near Gullmarsplan in Stockholm. Police and traffic authorities urged Swedes to leave their cars at home, and it looks like many did.

The parliament building (Riksdagen) was also covered in snow.

However, the Swedes braved the cold like true Vikings.

Schools closing for a 'snow day' is a pretty unusual phenomenon in Sweden (remember there's no bad weather, only bad clothing), but many schools did actually close in Stockholm on Wednesday.
