This Swedish company wants to help Americans flee Trump
A Swedish company has launched a timely new venture offering any Americans considering leaving their home nation should Donald Trump become president a chance to make a quick exit if the big vote doesn't go their way.
The tag-line for Stockholm-based advertising agency Round & Round’s “The Great Trump Escape” campaign is “You are looking for a new country, we are looking for new talent!”, and as that suggests, it’s a recruitment campaign with a twist.
The idea is that anyone in the advertising industry who is fearful over the outcome of Tuesday’s vote can register their portfolio to the company, but it will only be considered if Trump wins.
“We saw that according to stats one in four Americans would consider leaving the US should Trump get away with a win. We thought maybe we could help them on their way, offering some of the people a new workplace – preferably some good creatives in the advertisement business,” Nahir Aslan from Round & Round told The Local.
The site even provides some background on Sweden for curious US-based readers, noting that “we are in fact not known for neither chocolate nor watches. That’s Switzerland”.
Even if a Trump victory would potentially mean more American talent to choose from however, Round & Round said they would rather not see that scenario come to pass.
“I’d definitely say no because, based on what we see, what he’s saying from the podium, it doesn’t feel safe for the world,” Aslan noted.

One of the last lines of the website also makes that point fairly clear, with the agency writing “Honestly, we really hope it won’t come down to all that. Get your shit together, America”.
And Aslan said that the forthcoming vote is a constant subject of conversation at his workplace, even if there aren’t any Americans in the office:
“We don’t have any Americans. But we get in touch with and we have our fair share of relations with Americans, and we’re citizens of the world. We can’t not be concerned over what’s happening.”
In two days the Swedes will find out whether they can go ahead and open those portfolios, or whether they can be ignored, as anxious Americans presumably decide they don’t need to leave the country after all.
