Four events to light up November in Sweden
There's still a bit of Halloween left in the air in Sweden. Here are four events to make your first weekend in November sparkle.
1. Shockholm
One of the biggest Halloween parties in Scandinavia, Shockholm is now in its sixth year. The day starts as usual with a pre-parade party at the Kungsträdgården park in central Stockholm at 3pm. The zombies, witches and ghosts will then parade through Stockholm's historic Old Town before returning to Kungsträdgården where the ghastliest costumes will win prizes for best outfit.
When: November 5th. Activities at Kungsträdgården from 3pm, parade starts at 5pm.

2. Luleå Festival of Light
In northern Sweden (where the sun currently sets at around 3pm), the Luleå Festival of Light has got under way. It offers several dazzling light shows every night until November 5th on various locations around the town, including dance shows, a giant pumpkin and lanterns and ghost walks in historic village Gammelstad.

3. Horror movies in Gothenburg
Rather than lighting up your November, the Draken cinema in Gothenburg is embracing the winter darkness by organizing a scary movie themed week. It is showing all-time horror favourite The Exorcist (starring Swede Max von Sydow) tonight, Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds on Saturday and Evil Dead on Sunday. Slightly less scary options for the younger crowd are also on offer.
When: 8pm November 3rd and 5th

4. Light show at Sofiero
Sofiero was built as a summer house for then Crown Prince Oscar II and his family in 1865. It's more a castle than your average Swedish summer cottage, with a magnificent garden to visit in summer (but it is just as much worth a visit in winter). This weekend thousands of candles and lamps will light up the grounds. After a walk through the garden to enjoy the spectacle, there's soup, hot chocolate and a fire back at the castle.
When: November 3rd-6th, 7pm-9pm
