A dog helped its owner fight off a creepy clown chasing the pair in southern Sweden.

The dog walker contacted the police at around 10am on Thursday, saying that she had been chased by a masked man dressed up as a clown in Sunhultsbrunn, Småland.

“The dog then instinctively attacked and bit the man. The man is said to have fled the scene in the direction of a recycling centre,” police spokesperson Fredrik Kliman told regional newspaper Jönköpings-Posten.

Officers were not able to find the man immediately, but issued a plea for witnesses, describing him as wearing jeans, a black jacket, white sneakers and a clown mask.

“We also want to know if people have seen anyone with an injured hand or arm,” said Kliman.

The creepy clown trend seems to have subsided in Sweden since The Local reported earlier this month that police had been swamped with emergency calls.

Other examples in October include a knife-wielding clown chasing people in the town of Ronneby, and a 15-year-old girl being chased by a group of clowns in Dalarna.
