New September weather record set in Norway

With nearly two weeks still remaining in the month, a number of towns have already surpassed the old record for 'summer days' in September.
Hokksund in Buskerud has set the Norwegian record for the number of summer days in the month of September. Through Sunday, there had been 18 summer days, which is defined as temperatures above 20C.
The previous record was shared by Tafjord in Møre and Romsdal and Skooterud in Hedmark, which both have had 16 summer days in previous Septembers, Jan Inge Hansen of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute told NTB.
Two other places in Buskerud - Drammen and Sigdal - have also surpassed the old record and there is a chance that September may have a few more summer days in store.
“Strictly speaking, Monday and Tuesday could offer opportunities. After that, the temperatures look like they will be going down. We are expecting a bit of rain and lower temperatures,” Hansen said.
While the international definition of a summer day calls for temperature to not fall below 25C before 8pm, exceeding 20C in the daytime hours qualifies as a summer day in the Nordics.
