'Sahara heat' to bring summer back to Germany at last
German weathermen predict a return of summer weather next week as hot Saharan air reaches Germany from southern Europe.
Weather site wetter.net said on Thursday that a “heatwave” is set to hit Germany next week starting on Tuesday, though coastal areas may still experience scattered showers.
“Temperatures will rise with the hot Sahara air to between 22C and 32C,” the weather site wrote.
Lately temperatures have been on the cool side, with some of the lowest August temperatures in decades recorded last week.
Wednesday is set to see the mercury rise even more with temperatures ranging between 25C to 35C - or even higher, especially in the southwest. The country is expected to see “lots of sun and few clouds in the sky”.
Thursday will also see temperatures ranging between 24C and 35C.
However until then, the German Weather Service (DWD) has predicted showers and thunderstorms for this weekend.

Friday is expected to have mild temperatures ranging from 20C in the northeast to 27C in the southwest, with some showers in the west.
But Saturday and Sunday are both expected to show rainy weather, first in the south and then in the north.
