Baby tests negative for drugs after licking foil

A baby that was flown to intensive care after licking a piece of aluminium foil thought to have LSD or cocaine on it has tested negative for drugs.
A spokesperson for the University Hospital in Linz said they could rule out drugs as the cause of the symptoms of intoxication.
The 22-month-old girl was rushed to hospital on Monday morning after licking a piece of foil she found while crawling along a river-side path with her parents.
The family had been out for a stroll in Günzing by the River Ybbs in Upper Austria when they noticed the baby’s eyes had dilated and her behaviour had changed.
She was rushed by emergency helicopter to Amstetten hospital where doctors first thought she may have licked a discarded drug packet, possibly used for LSD or cocaine.
The baby was then transported to intensive care in Linz hospital and has now been moved to the normal ward.
Doctors are continuing to monitor her and investigate the cause of the symptoms, although they say she is now in a stable condition.
