Swedish police fear serial rapist on loose in Malmö
The rape of a 14-year-old girl in Malmö has led police to conjecture that there may be a serial rapist operating in the southern Swedish city.
The girl was raped on Friday, after being dragged into bushes near a sports ground in Husiegårds, eastern Malmö, according to Swedish newspaper Sydsvenskan.
The attacker is thought to be in his mid-twenties and had been seen riding his bike in the area prior to the incident.
“The girl was completely devastated“, a police spokesman told the newspaper.
“She was unable to speak about it until Saturday.“
Anders Petersson of the Malmö police suggested that the rapist may have struck before.
“We’re conducting an internal investigation by going back and checking on similar cases. There have been a number of such crimes before, so it may be the same offender.“
Petersson did not detail the other cases or offer any further information.
Last Monday night shots were fired at three different locations in Malmö within the space of eleven minutes.
