There are still some sandy corners of Spain that will welcome man's best friend.

Considering Spain's abundant coastline, beaches that do allow you to take your pooch to feel sand between the paw pads are few and far between, less than 50 in all.

Different rules apply on each beach with some banning dogs entirely year round and others allowing dogs access for limited hours during the summer season.

Taking your dog on a beach where they are not permitted, even if they are well behaved and on the lead, will often be met with outrage by fellow beachgoers and could result in a steep fine.

Luckily, RedCanina.es has produced an interactive map to help those who want to enjoy the beach with their four-legged friends.

Here's a gallery listing ten of The Local's favourite dog-friendly beaches in Spain.
