The top 10 priciest Spanish cities for summer travellers
A new report shows which cities in Spain are great for travelling on a shoestring budget - and which ones not so much.
The beautiful northern city of San Sebastián takes the cake for most expensive vacation spot, surpassing the average cost of summer holiday-making by nearly 27 percent, according to consumer comparison site Kelisto.
The Kelisto report published on Wednesday compared the prices of travelling to the 20 most-visited cities in Spain during the summer months of July and August. The site analyzed seven different products and services in three categories: accommodations, public and private transport (like taxis or car rental), and going out to eat and drink.

Some of Kelisto’s price comparison data came from travel booking sites, as well as crowdsourced data submitted to expat cost of living index Expatistan, which focused more on downtown or expat areas.

In San Sebastián for example, the average price for a double hotel room was €177 per night, while in Córdoba it was €60.50. The average across all cities analyzed was €94.40.
The Catalonian capital of Barcelona came in second place with costs reaching 26.1 percent more than the average, followed by Madrid, Palma de Mallorca and Bilbao.

Barcelona had the highest average price of going out for dinner for two at €52, compared to the least expensive city, Seville, where it was €30. The average price across all 20 cities was €42.32.

Kelisto also looked at the least expensive among the most visited cities and found that the southern province of Andalusia was the least inexpensive with the highest number of relatively cheap cities in the bottom ten: Seville was the most affordable city with costs 21.7 percent below the average.

Córdoba came in second, followed by Salamanca, Málaga and Burgos.
Seville was also listed as the cheapest place specifically to have a pint with the average price being €1.69, compared to the high of €5.45 in Madrid and an average of €3.46 overall.
