A 42-year-old man was found badly injured in the Seefeld district of Zurich on Thursday afternoon. Despite efforts to revive him, he died at the scene.

One man was arrested by police last week.

However in a statement police said they now had a “strong suspicion” that a 23-year-old prisoner – named as Tobias Kuster – may also be linked to the crime.

Kuster failed to return to prison after day release on June 23rd.

Investigations at the crime scene led police to suspect his involvement in the 42-year-old’s murder.

In prison since February 2014 for violent crimes – but not murder – Kuster is classified as violent and “likely to be armed,” said police.

He was due to be released on good behaviour at the end of 2017, prison spokesman Thomas Manhart told news agency ATS.

His day release on June 23rd was the prisoner’s first unaccompanied outing. He had already had several accompanied trips.

“As per our assessment of the risks, we were working on the theory that he would come back after his leave,” said Manhart.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call Zurich police on 044 247 22 11.
