Police had originally thought that the 33-year-old, who was struck on Spånehusvägen in the south of the city on Wednesday night, had been subject to a murder attempt.

But after further investigation they concluded in the early hours of Thursday morning that only the pedestrian himself was the suspect of a crime, arresting him on suspicion of aggravated assault and weapons offences.

The suspect is believed to have aimed a weapon in the direction of the car, leading to him being run over by the vehicle, as well as the driver colliding with two parked cars and an electricity cabinet.

A weapon was found at the location of the incident, while a nearby apartment was also searched.

Sydsvenskan report that the suspect fled the scene, leading to a police manhunt. He was later located and arrested from a hospital where he was being treated for minor injuries.

A police press officer told news agency TT that the two individuals involved appeared to know one another.
