A new football kit unveiled by Spanish football CD Palencia is raising plenty of eyebrows.

Spain has seen more than its fair share of bizarre football kits over time with standouts being Guijuelo's 'slice of ham' uniform and Recreativo de Huelva's infamous Minnie Mouse jersey.

But fourth division club CD Palencia may have just topped other competitors with its eye-catching new kit.

As the club based in northern Spain steps up its assault on a rise to the country’s third division via the play-off route, players have promised to "dejarse la piel", or "give skin", an expression meaning to give it one’s all.

With the club’s new uniform, it appears to be taking a fairly literal approach to that saying.

The startling uniform looks more like something you would find in an anatomy class than on a football field with the jerseys and shorts portraying the musculature of the human body from thorax to thighs.

It remains to be seen whether Palencia are successful in their promotion bid, but they have definitely secured themselves a place in the history of football fashion.
