Finally! Denmark promised high temps and sunshine
Just in time for Thursday's holiday, forecasters are calling for highs to reach 20C by the weekend.
After a long long winter and the wettest and least sunny April in nearly a decade, Danes could be forgiven for looking in confusion upon the strange yellow orb glowing in the sky on Monday.
But yes that is indeed the sun and best of all it will stick around for a while. Well, mostly anyway.
According to the Danish Meteorology Institute (DMI), a sunny Monday will be replaced by clouds and some rain on Tuesday but fear not, clear skies are due right back on Wednesday.
Daytime highs should hit 15C on Wednesday before rising steadily until peaking at 20C on Saturday.
That's some long-awaited good news that also arrives at an opportune time. On Thursday's public holiday of Ascension Day (Kristi Himmelfartsdag), temperatures should range between 13-18C with light winds. It will be more of the same on Friday, a day that many will take off in order to create a four-day weekend.
DMI said that Saturday will likely provide the warmest temperatures of 2016 thus far, with highs of 20C predicted. Heading into Sunday, the forecasters called for "unchanged or maybe slightly warmer temperatures".
The expected warm patch will no doubt be embraced by Danish residents who are ready for summer after an unpredictable and sometimes even snowy spring.
