Spanish reporter harassed by far-right Brussels protesters
A Spanish TV reporter was harassed by far-right protesters who hijacked a peace march in Brussels, less than a week after the city’s terror attacks.
Spanish journalist Marta Sascot was covering a peace march on the Place de la Bourse in Brussels for television station Antena 3 when far-right protesters attempted to grab her microphone.
During the incident, which was caught on camera, Sascot gamely carried on with her report, yanking the microphone back from one protester, while a woman in the back of the shot tried to shoo them away.
The protester managed to pull the sponge off the microphone and throw it at Sascot’s head.
Upon cutting back to the studio, the journalist’s colleague, Matías Prats congratulated the "good and brave work from my colleague".
Sascot was covering a peace march in Brussels, five days after terror attacks in the airport and metro rocked the city and left 31 people dead, including one Spanish woman, Jennifer García.
The peace gathering drew hundreds of Belgians, but also around 200 far-right protesters, who shouted anti-immigrant slogans and made Nazi salutes
Police were eventually forced to use water cannons to disperse the crowd.
The group, calling themselves The Nation, trampled flowers on the scene and were protesting against immigrants.
Sascot took to Twitter after the event to thank viewers for their support.

"I am astonished, I've read all your tweets and I can only thank you for the encouragement and be thankful to have had the great cameraman Jordi Ballabriga at my side," the journalist wrote.
