To celebrate becoming the first capital city in the world to pull in one million Twitter followers, the French capital has released a stunning time lapse video of the city.

The hashtag #1MillionParis was trending in Paris on Monday in celebration of the fact the city's Twitter account had picked up one million followers.

The City Hall sent out its first ever tweet back in September 2009 to celebrate the "Nuit Blanche", an all-night cultural event. Remarkably, the tweet was actually sent out in English for some reason.

And naturally the city's mayor Anne Hidalgo, who is very active in social media was only to keen join in the celebrations.

To mark the momentous occasion, city authorities made a time lapse video of the City of Light that showed the city in all it's glory.

It might not be the first time lapse video featuring the city, but it's certainly one of the best.
