Police said that the students and teachers at the British International School of Stavanger were cleared from the building after a bomb threat was received shortly after the school day began.

“At 8.41am police received a message about a bomb threat against the British school in Gausel. The school informed the police. The students and employees are evacuated from the school area and police are searching the area,” the West police district said in a press release.

Roughly 90 minutes after receiving the initial report, police said that the school grounds had been thoroughly checked and that nothing suspicious was found.

The same school received a bomb threat last Tuesday, as did the British International School of Stockholm. Hungarian media also reported that the British International School in Budapest had been evacuated after a bomb threat the same morning.

Nothing suspicious was found at any of the locations in last week’s threats.

Located in the Gausel neighbourhood of Stavanger, the British International School has some 550 students who range in age between two and 16 and come from more than 40 different countries.
