MacAskill has given us a brand new perspective on one of Spain’s most popular holiday destinations: Gran Canaria.

A video featuring the trials cycling phenomenon taking a gravity-defying ride across the city’s multicoloured rooftops really has to be seen to be believed.

MacAskill negotiates centimetre-thin ledges with four-storey drops on either side and jumps from rooftop to rooftop, all the while balancing on the back wheel of his bike.

And make sure you watch all the way to the end for an incredible finishing stunt.

The video, titled Cascadia, was uploaded to YouTube on December 10th and in only four days has already amassed nearly six million views and 80,000 likes.

The five-minute long film was made by Mount Creative for GoPro - MacAskill wears a GoPro camera on his helmet throughout the ride, capturing some incredible first-hand footage.

"I wanted somewhere that would be nice and sunny," said Danny, when asked on the official GoPro website why he opted for the Spanish island.

"Also somewhere nice and colourful that works really well on camera. We needed to find all this with nice, flat roofs, so I could ride atop them and do gaps between the buildings," he added.

The video’s producers gave a special shout out to the locals of Las Palmas in a comment under the video: "A special thanks to the people of Gran Canaria who opened their homes to us and helped make this project a reality."

MacAskill, 29, is one of the world’s greatest trials riders and has been riding for 18 years.

He gave up his job as a mechanic to focus on riding and has released various YouTube videos, including The Ridge, which sees him return home to the Isle of Skye to ride the steep Cuillin Ridge. That video has been watched nearly 40 million times.
