Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists he is getting better with age, rather like fine wine. The 34-year-old was interviewed following rumours he could leave his Paris club side.

“Even if I'm getting older I feel I'm still getting better,” said Ibrahimovic, who recently became Paris Saint Germain's leading ever goal scorer when he took his tally to 110 from 137 games.

“I'm still here doing what I have to do and doing it better and better,” he said.

His comments came as rumours were circulating in France that he will depart after his contract with the three-time reigning Ligue 1 champions runs out at the end of the season.

But Ibrahimovic, who is not known for his modesty, was adamant his prowess on the football field is only improving.

“I'm like a fine wine that gets better with age. I don't feel like a man in decline. Mentally I'm getting stronger.”

“And I'm still hungry for more, which will help me achieve my objectives,” he told the PSG website on Thursday.

One of those objectives is the Euro 2016 finals, for which Sweden is still in the running after managing to grab a spot in the playoffs after defeating Moldova earlier this week.

A UEFA draw on Sunday will reveal whether the Nordic country takes on Norway, Denmark, Ireland or Slovenia.

Swedish manager Erik Hamren's side finished third in Group G behind Austria and Russia, despite Ibrahimovic scoring eight goals in qualifying.

Ibrahimovic has previously said he does not want to miss the European Championships, telling global media this week "it's really unimaginable to me that this tournament takes place without me".

"We have not been able to get there directly so we will take another route. Whoever we face in the playoffs, it will be difficult."

"In these games, it is all or nothing and each team gives 200 percent but I am sure we will qualify.”
