France gets first dusting of snow as mercury dips
It might only be the 15th of October but parts of central France including Burgundy witnessed the first snow falls of the season on Thursday as temperatures dropped sharply.
According to local reports in Burgundy the temperatures haven’t been so low for this time of the year in 40 years.
France is in the middle of a cold snap with the temperature in Dijon having stooped as low as 7C, which according to France 3 has not happened since 1975.
The famous wine region of central France saw its first snow of winter, well autumn, as a light dusting of white powder was left on higher ground.

There was around 2cm of snow in the Morvan hills, and in the valley of Ouche.

Residents have been warned about ice and snow on higher ground.
Is the early snow a sign of things to come?
After a roasting hot summer is France set for a freezing cold winter?
Not yet anyway as temperatures are set to rise again at the weekend.
