Hollywood star Claire Danes took a break from shooting the new season of Homeland in Berlin this year to drop into the capital's most notorious club – and she liked what she found.

"People are dancing completely naked? That is disgusting," exclaimed shocked talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

She was on the couch with Homeland star Claire Danes, talking about a recent shoot in Berlin. And where else could they be talking about but Berghain?

But Danes was clearly captivated by her time there.

Although admitting she was "acutely anxious" when she entered the giant club – world renowned for its techno music and the excess that goes on inside – Danes discovered a new side of herself when a friend got her into the club through the back entrance.

"Everybody's in black or nothing at all. It's vast, it's huge," she explained, describing the heavy techno in the basement before adding "there's an ice cream parlour as well in this club. You can go take a break and go have a little ice cream – it's amazing, it's the best place on Earth."

Danes even busted out her techno moves, while complaining that the techno DeGeneres plays for her isn't up to Berghain's standards.

"That's bad techno!“ she lamented.

While DeGeneres still struggled to get her head around people dancing to techno in the day time - as is the norm at Berghain, which is open from Friday evening to Monday morning - Danes described it as the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

But, the big-up from Hollywood wasn't entirely well received on social media.

Twitter user Berlin Disaster asked how many young Americans "will have to leave Berlin after their parents see that Claire Danes video.”

Another user, Alex Barnes, meanwhile grumbled that Danes didn't have the true Berghain experience because she didn't face the club's notorious bouncers.

While Danes clearly has a lot of love for Berlin, which she described as "awesome", one comment gave away that she still has a lot to learn about the city.

"So people go in [to Berghain] on a Friday and they leave on Monday morning and they go straight to work," she told DeGeneres.

Oh Claire, you think people in Berlin have jobs?
