Twin babies killed in car crash near Pisa
A man has been charged with manslaughter after nine-month old twins were killed on Monday in a crash between a tanker truck and the car they were travelling in near Pisa.
The crash happened on the A12 between Pisa and Viareggio, La Stampa reported.
The twins’ mother, 32-year-old Elisa Chiricò, had to be airlifted from the wreckage to a hospital in Pisa, where she’s in a critical condition, while their father, Cristian Brambilla, 34, escaped unharmed.
The family, who live in Milan, is said to have been travelling towards Lombardy when their car was hit by the truck when it got too close, and crashed into the guard rail.
La Stampa said the truck driver, from Romania, has been charged with manslaughter.
