Italy coach could face match-fixing trial
Italy football coach Antonio Conte is among 104 people who could face trial as part of an investigation into match-fixing.
Conte, who was appointed Italy coach after last summer’s World Cup, is accused of being involved in “sporting fraud” in connection with his time as manager of Siena in 2010-2011.
The 45-year-old was suspended for ten months in 2012 for failing to report match-fixing, but has always denied wrongdoing.
Conte is among 104 others, including Udinese coach Stefano Colantuono, who prosecutor Roberto Di Martino has asked to stand trial, La Stampa reported.
As match-fixing scandals continue to blight Italian football five people, including the president of Serie B side Catania, were arrested last month.
Pulvirenti later admitted to buying the results of five matches for €100,000 each.
In May, an investigation dubbed "Dirty Soccer" by the Italian media led to 50 arrests in connection with illegal match-fixing in 31 matches, mainly in Italy's lower professional leagues.
