It's been a right royal week in Sweden, with the birth of Prince Nicolas Paul Gustaf taking place just two days after Prince Carl Philip got hitched to Sofia Hellqvist. Here are our favourite moments.

Prince Carl Philip got married to his former reality TV star girlfriend Sofia Hellqvist on Saturday June 13th and The Local blogged every key moment of the day. Here's the happy couple travelling around Stockholm in a horse drawn carriage.

Swedes have a passion for sweet treats and here at The Local we were rather taken with the couple's incredible wedding cake.

The rest of Sweden's royals -- and a few from across Europe -- joined the celebrations. Here is a very pregnant Princess Madeleine with her daughter Leonore and husband Chris O'Neill, just two days before she gave birth to a brand new royal prince.

Here's a close-up of Princess Leonore, who later in the week thought her new baby brother was "a doll", her father Chris O'Neill told reporters.

It's a boy! Just two days after the royal wedding, the Royal Court announced that Princess Madeleine had given birth to a baby boy on Monday June 15th, with medical staff holding a press conference at Danderyd Hospital north of Stockholm.

Head midwife Anna Ståhl revealed that the Princess had not experienced any problems during delivery.

"This was a very uncomplicated normal birth. But of course it feels special," she said.

Other royals rushed to the hospital to meet the latest addition to their family, with King Carl XVI Gustaf among the visitors snapped outside.

Gun shots rang out across Sweden at midday on Tuesday June 14th in honour of the baby as speculation grew about the name of the new prince.

The Local had a laugh reporting on the options Princess Madeleine and Chris O'Neill might be considering, from a traditional Swedish name such as Björn or William, to Zlatan (after the nation's top footballer) or even Chuck (to reflect O'Neill's US heritage).

On Wednesday King Carl XVI Gustaf finally stopped the speculation and revealed that the royal baby had been named Prince Nicolas Paul Gustaf. The middle name is in honour of the boy's paternal grandfather, who died in 2004.

And here he is! This is one of the first photos taken of Prince Nicolas Paul Gustaf and boy isn't he cute!
