The Spanish entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest has been urged to cut scenes that include live tigers from the video for her single, Daybreak.

An international animal rights organization has called on Spain’s Eurovision entry, as well as the country’s public broadcaster, to remove scenes from the video for the singer’s Eurovision song that feature Noa, a tiger often used in circuses and events.

Infocircos, an umbrella organization made up of various animal rights groups such as the Born Free Foundation, has launched a petition on the website change.org which says that the training such animals receive "overrides their instincts" and forces them to perform "unnatural behaviour in strange environments".

The petition also mentions that often "dangerous parts" of these animals are amputated or removed, as in the case of Noa, who has had her claws removed.

"We want Edurne and the makers of the video to realize that Noa is not a toy, but an animal whose needs are not met working in this industry" Jennifer Berengueras, InfoCircos spokesman told news website teinteresa.es.

According to InfoCircos, animals used in circuses and on television are often captured in the wild when they are very young in order to aid the taming process.

"Often animals that are hired out to film or television producers come from circuses where they live a nomadic life and spend most of their life locked up," Berengueras said.

"In many cases they end up developing serious health or behaviour issues and are abandoned, euthanized or kept in a cage all their lives (which is what happened in the case of Noa’s parents)," she added.

It is not the first time Edurne has caused controversy. She recently landed herself in hot water when she admited that Manchester, the northern English home of her boyfriend, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, was "as ugly as the back of a fridge".
