Anti-paedophile raids in 16 Italian cities
Anti-paedophile raids were underway on Thursday morning across Italy, with police carrying out search operations in 16 cities.
Around 20 homes were being searched and computers seized, as part of the investigation into pornography involving minors, Il Mattino reported.
Raids were taking place in 16 cities across Italy, including Milan, Rome and Venice.
Sicily accounted for five of the cities, with the island’s capital Palermo involved in addition to Caltanissetta, Catania, Ragusa and Siracusa.
The probe was being coordinated by the district prosecutor for juvenile cases in Catania, working alongside state police and its unit dealing with internet crimes.
Police are due to announce more detail of the investigation later on Thursday.
